Chapter 1404
He was the talk of the town, a mafor female attention at school, but Dorothy never imagined Mr. Lopez, the
heartthrob of many, could ever fall for someone like her.
"So, how did Mr. Lopez sweep you off your feet?" Nyssa asked, emboldened by Dorothy's openness.
"It's quite a story," Dorothy said with a gentle smile. "Our journey wasn't all rainbows and sunshine, Nyssa. Yes,
there were touching moments, but | wouldn't wish our struggles on anyone."
Their path had been fraught with obstacles, to the point where Dorothy had almost given up hope.
If it weren't for Everett's persistence, they might have ended up strangers.
Nyssa could see a complex mix of emotions in Dorothy's smile, a puzzle she couldn't solve.
"Oops! I've taken up too much of your time, Ms. Sanchez. I'll go digest all this valuable advice." Dorothy

"Still, it's precious to me!"
As quitting trolled around, Everett was already waiting downstairs, having learned to keep his distance from
the office after a misunderstanding involving Perdita. Now, he waited in his car for Dorothy to cdown.
"Everett, pickingup every day is givinganxiety," Dorothy teased as she slid into the passenger seat.
"Anxiety?" he raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah! Is Lopez Corporation really that laid back? If the CEO has this much free time, I'm starting to worry... is
business that bad?"
"Don't worry, | can still take care of you and the kids."
With a pregnant wife in the car, Everett drove with extra care, ensuring a smooth ride.
Dorothy sneaked a glance at him. Even in the driver's seat, he was strikingly handsome, his profile alone
commanding attention. Suddenly, she thought about the wedding plans he had mentioned. They seemed to
have been put on hold.
Dorothy wanted to ask but held
back. Considering how Everett had adjusted his schedule to
accommodate her, it was
understandable if wedding plans were on the back burner. Besides, the status of their relationship wasn't
dependent on a ceremony.
When they arrived at the Bay Residence, Abigail and Langston were still out. Their daycare had a horseback
riding lesson, delaying their return.
Dorothy changed out of her work
clothes into a casual outfit, preparing to pick up the kids with Everett. But before they could feave, a call from
the school turned their world upside down.

"Is this Langston's mom? He got injured protecting his sister and is being taken to the hospital!"
Dorothy's legs nearly gave way beneath her. She and Everett rushed to the hospital, where the school principal
and teachers were waiting.
"How's my son?" Dorothy asked, panic-stricken.
Everett, stern-faced, demanded answers, "How did this happen?"
The teacher, on the verge of tears, explained, "Abigail was fond of a pony and went back to pet it after, class.
The pony, not properly secured, charged at her. Langston stepped in to protect his sister and was trampled!"
Dorothy felt the world spin at the thought of her son's injury.
"Is his leg... broken?"
"We called an ambulance immediately, but we're still waiting on the doctor's word," the teacher replied, her
voice trembling.
