Chapter 422
Chapter 422:
As the race went on, Khloe grew more attuned to the car's handling and performance. Guided by Tess’s
navigation, she started managing the accelerator, brakes, and steering with increased precision.
Khloe’s gear changes becmore precise, and her speed through turns improved noticeably. But Selena wasn’t
careless; catching on to Khloe’s progress, she dropped the mockery and pushed her car harder, ensuring Khloe
couldn't catch up.
Standing off the track, Jack observed the race with his arms folded and a smirk of disdain on his face. In his
opinion, Khloe, just an actress, had deluded herself by daring to challenge Selena in a race. It was pure
foolishness. Selena wasn't just Richard's student; she was also the daughter of a wealthy businessman in
Ouiswell, raised with privilege and resources from the start. To Jack, she was leagues ahead of Khloe, who,
judging by her clumsy takeoff, had likely never even touched a race car before.
Even so, Khloe had the nerve to challenge Selena, a decision Jack saw as nothing less than a public humiliation.
Jack sneered at Khloe, his voice carrying across the crowd. “You pathetic loser, you just don’t know your place,
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtdo you? An actress like you, daring to compete with Miss Castillo in racing? Have you no sense of reality? You're
going to embarrass yourself, lose a car worth a hundred million, and ruin your career. Let's see how long you last
in showbiz after this fiasco!”
His mocking tone grated on the crowd outside the track, eliciting chuckles from a few of Selena’s supporters.
Rhett’s gaze shifted to the source of the commotion, and he spoke icily. “Who let this jester out to babble
nonsense? Does being a bootlicker make you feel important? Are you sure you're one of us and not Ouiswell’s
lackey? Honestly, even lackeys have more dignity than you!”
Rhett’s eyes burned with scorn, and his cutting words struck with precision.
His commanding presence momentarily snuffed out the surrounding laughter. Jack’s face flushed with anger, and
he opened his mouth to fire back, but his eyes caught sight of the luxury watch on Rhett’s wrist—a watch valued
at fifty million, one he had once admired at the Mayot’s residence.

He hesitated and then spoke cautiously. “Sir, let's be civil, shall we? It's obvious Khloe is a beginner; there's no
way she can compete with Miss Castillo. If you feel sorry for her, save it for when she’s in tears after the race.
Why start a fight withinstead?”
Rhett’s lips curled into a sneer. “And what if | decide | want to start a fight with you?”
Jack’s temper flared at Rhett’s persistence. He didn’t need to hold back anymore. With the Mayor backing him
up, why should he fear someone like Rhett?
He rolled his eyes at Rhett and said, “Let's make a bet, then. If Miss Castillo wins, you will givethat watch of
yours. But if that actress wins, I'll buy the sone for you.”
“Deal!” Rhett agreed without hesitation. “But don’t dare to cheat. Otherwise, don’t blme for showing you
what I'm capable of.”
Of course, he knew Khloe was a novice in racing, but the Mayor's secretary's words were infuriating, so he
naturally wanted to help Khloe regain her dignity. Moreover, Khloe was Henrik's fiancée, so Rhett inexplicably
had faith in her.
But as the race continued, the tension in the air grew thicker with each passing moment. Khloe’s car remained
behind Selena, struggling to find an opening.
Rhett’s expression darkened as he watched them.
Had he made the wrong assessment of Khloe? Had he overestimated her? With only two laps left, the tension on
the racetrack was palpable. Selena was still in the lead, and Khloe was trying to close in, inch by inch.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmJack’s gaze turned from the racetrack to Rhett. With a smug expression, he extended his hand and said, “Only
two laps left. Even if she overtakes now, there's still a gap of one lap. Mister, a bet is a bet.”
