Torning to Odalyn and Berenger, Logan asked curiously. “So... are you guys not even a little shocked by who
Elysia really is?” He emphasized his point with a gesture.
But both his parents looked genuinely confused. Odalyn tilted her head. “Who Elysia is? Why should we be
shocked?”
Logan relaxed, realizing his mom had no idea. No wonder she was to calm.
He leaned back, letting out a sigh. Elysia being the owner of the Arcanum House was a big deal, and he couldn't
imagine his parents not being surprised. But maybe it was better to let Elysia reveal it herself.
Odalyn, however, wasn't letting it go. She studied Logan closely. “What are you hiding from us?” she pressed.
Logan shook his head. “I swear, I'm not hiding anything” This secret was about Elysia, and he’d only share if she
gave the okay
“Really nothing?” Odalyn asked skeptically.
Logan nodded earnestly. “Cross my heart.”
After a moment, she finally relented, though she still looked unconvinced.
At Arcanum House, Elysia was in the garden, casually tossing fish food into the pond, when Yuna approached
from behind. Her voice was serious. “Boss, the police have arrested Emma.”
Elysia didn’t even pause, instead coaxing the fish with a playful flick of her wrist. Her mood seemed to lift.
“Good. At least Robert is finally listening. Use your connections to keep that troublemaker locked up for a while
longer.”
“Got it, Boss. And there’s news from the Rosewood Group,” Yuna added.
“Go on,” Elysia said, her interest piqued.
“The authorities visited Rosewood Group this morning and took Scott into custody.”

“Looks like the Rosewood Group is on its last legs,” Elysia mused.
“Congratulations, Boss,” Yuna said respectfully.
“Nothing to celebrate,” Elysia replied. “Just another problem solved. Arrange forto visit Scott tomorrow.”
“Understood,” Yuna said.
As Yuna finished speaking, Alyce walked over, her demeanor respectful. “Boss, the Jackson family are here.”
Elysia handed the fish food to Yuna. “Remember what | told you,” she said before heading toward the main gate.
The brick-red wooden door creaked open, and Elysia saw Berenger and Odalyn standing at the bottom of the
stone steps. Her face lit up. “Berenger, Odalyn,” she exclaimed, running to hug Odalyn tightly. “I've missed you
so much.”
Odalyn’s heart softened. How wonderful it would be if Elysia were her own daughter. She patted Elysia’s back
gently. “Letget a good look at you. Have you lost weight?”
“No way! I'm stronger than ever,” Elysia pulled away, her tone playful.
Odalyn tapped her forehead teasingly. “You're such a tease. You look anything but strong with those thin arms
and legs. You

Con. Odalyn, you're exaggerating. Elysia laughed.
Berenger and Logan watched the exchange, feeling a bit left out. It was almost as if they were invisible. The way
Elysia and Odalyn interacted, anyone would think they were mother and daughter.
“Guess Elysia didn’t notice someone here,” Logan said, trying to get sattention
Elysia sniffed the air tically. “Odalyn, do you smell jealousy in the air?”
“I sure do, and it’s pretty strong,” Odalyn replied with a smirk.
“Hey, that’s not fair. Elysia.” Logan protested. “Is this how you treat me?”
Odalyn rolled her eyes. “And what if | am? You may be grown, but you still have a toddler's temper
“Dad, saying something.” Logan appealed to his father.
Berenger quickly averted his gaze. “I didn’t see anything,” he said, trying to stay out of it.
Logan sighed inwardly. His heart always shattered a little when he argued with his mom. She always had the
upper hand. and his dad never seemed to understand the concept of fairness.
In their family, Mom was always right, and Logan, the beloved son, was more of an afterthought. He decided
there was no point in arguing anymore. No matter what, he always ended up losing.
Elysia was walking into Arcanum House with Odalyn, their arms linked. Suddenly, a taxi that had been parked
outside the entrance suddenly lunged forward, heading straight for them. Odalyn reacted on instinct, shoving
Elysia out of the way.
Elysia stumbled but quickly regained her balance, her heart pounding in her chest. She turned to Odalyn,
grabbed her hand. and pulled her to safety. The car skimmed the edge of Odalyn’s clothes as it sped off, leaving
Elysia with an intense gaze on its departing.
Berenger and Logan, who had been stunned into immobility, finally snapped out of it. They rushed over, concern
etched on their faces. Berenger examined Odalyn closely and still asked, “Odalyn, are you okay? Did you get
hurt?”
“Maybe we should get you checked out at the hospital,” Logan suggested, his voice tinged with urgency.
Odalyn took a deep breath, patting her chest as if to steady herself. After a long while, she managed to say, “I'm
fine. Thank goodness Elysia was there. If she hadn't pulledout of the way, | might be in real danger.”
When the taxi rushed over earlier, neither of them reacted in time. If it hadn't been for Elysia pulling her out of
harm’s way at the critical moment, Odalyn might have ended up on the ground. Thank goodness for Elysia’s
quick reflexes.
Logan's face softened, gratitude shining in his eyes. “Thank you, Elysia,” he said sincerely.
Elysia shook her head, her expression gentle but firm. “Don’t thank me,” she said. “If it weren't for Odalyn
pushingout of the way first, | wouldn't have had the chance to save her. I'm the one who should be thanking
you all.”

Odalyn reached out and took Elysia’s hand, squeezing it gently. “Silly girl,” she murmured. “We're family. Of
course I'd save you. And I'm just glad everyone's safe. That's all that matters.”
Logan finally realized he might have misspoken. Honest to goodness, he never saw Elysia as an outsider. He truly
meant to
thank her.
Elysia’s action wasn't just timely; it saved the most important woman in his life. This wasn’t a simple matter; it
was a life-or- death situation.

Elysia felt Odalyn’s hand and felt touched. In that split-second decision, Odalyn could have dodged it, but she
chose to push and protect Elysia, even at the risk of her own safety.
Odalyn treated Elysia so well. What people would do without thinking meant a lot. It was a bond deeper than
blood, a connection that had grown stronger with every passing day.
She leaned into Odalyn, her voice barely above a whisper. “Why did you do it? Why did you save me?”
“Because | couldn't bear to see you get hurt,” she said softly. “I can't let the car hit you.”
Logan chuckled softly, shaking his head. “Mom's words are the truth,” he said with a grin. “Sometimes | think
she loves you more than me. | half-joke that you might be the daughter they forgot about.”
Elysia smiled, her eyes twinkling with affection. “I wish,” she said wistfully. “But | guess I'll just have to settle for
being the honorary member of this crazy family.”
Logan's eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned toward Odalyn. “Hey, Mom, you really love Elysia, right? How
about making her your goddaughter?”
