Chapter 99 Brandon, Mind Your Own Business with Penelope In an instant, Kelvin's presence turned as cold as ice.
Someone dared to whisk Penelope off right under his nose? Who was that? Who could this unexpected helper be? "Find out what happened, and I want to know in five minutes!" Kelvin barked, "Go, now!" "Yes, sir..." He slammed his phone down on the seat, his expression stormy.
Well, well, Penelope, aren't you full of surprises! Kelvin glanced at his watch, counting the seconds tick by, his patience wearing thin.
When the phone rang again, barely seconds before the five-minute deadline, he snapped, "Speak." "Mr. Davis, the person who took Mrs. Davis was Brandon!" "Him?" "Yes," his subordinate replied. "And he took her to a private hospital owned by the Walker Group!" "Turn the car around!" Kelvin commanded instantly.
This turn of things was completely unexpected.
Penelope, so clever even in dire straits, had managed to turn the tables and protect her unborn child.
The private hospital was owned by the Walker Group..
In a private room, Penelope lay on the bed, her face pale, eyes tightly shut.
"Mr. Walker, the patient is stable for now, and we've managed to save the baby," the doctor said. "But she needs proper care... There's still a risk of miscarriage." "Understood." "I'll prescribe her daily medications. The head nurse will tend to Mrs. Cooper personally." Brandon nodded and took a seat by the bed, bending over.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe had not expected Penelope to be pregnant... Who was the father of the child? Why was she in such critical condition in that hospital? There seemed to be many secrets about this woman.
Gazing at her face, a wave of unexplained compassion rose within Brandon. "You deserve to live a happy and carefree life, and yet you must have suffered so much." Otherwise, why would she be alone and helpless in a hospital, waiting for his rescue? If it weren't for him... would her child have been lost? Lost in thought, the sound of rapid footsteps from outside suddenly shook him from his thought. With firm and purposeful strides, someone approached.
Brandon frowned, stood up, and stepped out of the room.
From down the hall, he saw Kelvin approaching with urgency.
"Mr. Davis?" Brandon queried, "What brings you here?" "That's exactly what I should be asking you." "I've been looking after Penelope," Brandon replied plainly, "but as for the relationship between Mr. Davis and her, it seems to be strictly professional." Kelvin didn't need to cto the hospital himself just for an employee.
With a dark expression, Kelvin demanded, "Who asked you to look after her?" "She calledlast night, begging for help, so I cright over." "She's smart enough to turn to you," Kelvin scoffed. "Listen, Brandon, I'd advise you to stay out of Penelope's business." "I promised her that I'd be there if she ever needed help. A gentleman's word is his bond." Brandon was forthright, not concealing a thing.
And it was this forthrightness that irked Kelvin even more.
Brandon, the epitof chivalry and benevolence—what did that make Kelvin in comparison? A devil straight out of hell! "You might help her once, but you can't be her savior forever," Kelvin stated. "I don't care what your feelings towards Penelope are, but from now on, stay away from her!" With that, Kelvin strode towards the patient's room.

"I'm taking her with me!" "Why?" Brandon challenged. "She's very weak now and needs to be well hospitalized." "No reason!" Kelvin pushed Brandon's hand away hard, intent on entering the room.
But Brandon stood his ground: "Mr. Davis, she needs rest." Kelvin narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Don't tell me... you've fallen for Penelope?" The woman surely had a knack for seducing men! Despite a deep-seated enmity between them, Kelvin had been swayed by her charms, had shown her compassion, had grown affection for her...
Even he could be influenced in such cases, let alone other men.
"Mr. Davis is joking, of course. I have a girlfriend," Brandon responded. "My care for Mrs. Cooper is simply out of friendship." A catch like Brandon was spoken for early on.
His girlfriend was well-matched in status and pedigree.
With his looks, wealth, kindness, and sense of responsibility, any woman would cling to Brandon, not to mention the two made a picture-perfect couple.
"Friendship? How many times have you even met?" Kelvin probed. "We've had years of partnership, Brandon, and I do not wish to ruin it over a lowly woman." "You shouldn't talk about her like that." Kelvin's patience was wearing thin; Brandon's insistence on defending Penelope only added fuel to the fire. Nathan was the past, and now Brandon had emerged.
At least Nathan had wronged her and vanished abroad, which is why Kelvin never took him seriously.
But now, if Brandon truly had feelings for her, Kelvin wasn't sure he could win her over. He thought about winning.
He feared Penelope's heart might be captured by another man.

Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHe had such an intense desire to possess Penelope... a possessiveness a man feels for a woman!
"Ha, Brandon, Penelope isn't as noble as she seems," Kelvin said coolly! "Do ms," you even know who she is?" "Who is she?" "My lover." Brandon paused, "Lover? Then, the child she's carrying..."
Kelvin replied, "I told her to give it up, but she wouldn't. She secretly turned ex ve to you to
save the baby, aiming to secure a future through it. Such scheming don't you think?" The content woman e is on novelenglish.net! He left the paternity of the child ambiguous.
Let Brandon draw his own conclusions.
But Penelope's image was certainly tarnished in Brandon's eyes.
Deep in shock, Brandon could not regain his composure for stime, while Kelvin had already kicked open the room door and strode in.
The loud noise woke Penelope from her slumber.
Opening her eyes, she was met with Kelvin's furious face.
Familiar fear swept over her, and she instinctively shrank back, "Kelvin..." "How dare you!" "Mr. Davis!" Brandon rushed in after. "You're scaring her." Penelope's mind slowly cleared as she looked between Kelvin and Brandon.
Suddenly, she glanced down at her belly, "My baby!" "It's safe," Brandon assured her. "Luckily, I got here in tand arranged a surgery for you." Penelope gazed at him, her eyes moist with grateful tears, "Thank you..." Without Brandon, she would have surely lost her child.
"However," he continued, "the doctor said you're quite weak and the baby is still at risk.
You need to take great care from now on, or else there could be miscarriage."
