Chapter 136 Hate Me, Love Me, That's Enough Kelvin gave a firm nod, his hand reaching behind him to retrieve the concealed knife. "Dispose of this," he commanded, his voice echoing in the room, "No sharp objects in this room anymore, not a single one." He had observed earlier that Penelope had snuck the knife under her pillow, yet he had chosen not to confront her or confiscate it. He had entertained the thought that she might have kept it for him, and he was prepared to give her that opportunity.
However, to his astonishment, in those decisive moments, Penelope had turned the knife towards herself rather than him.
Despite his palm being heavily bandaged, a dark crimson stain was slowly seeping through.
"I won't kill you, and you won't letdie..." Penelope's voice wafted through the room, frail and weak, "Kelvin, are you planning to keep us both trapped in this forever?" "Yes," he responded without hesitation.
"Why?" she pressed.
His voice was laden with emotion, "Because you belong to me." Penelope bit her lower lip, her voice trembling, "But I don't love you. I despise you. And your love, it's more than I can bear!" "Hate me, then. My love for you is enough." Kelvin's voice was resolute. Penelope challenged him, "Aren't you afraid that one day, I'll once again have a knife aimed straight at your heart?" Kelvin laughed at her words, a sound devoid of humor.
"I should remind you of something," he said, his tone serious, "unless I allow it, no one can hurt me. Penelope, the fact that you were able to woundwas because I let you. Understand?" "Kelvin, does it feel good? Holding all the control, always being in charge?" Penelope's gaze was unyielding, staring him down.
Everything was under his control, his vigilant eye. No surprises, no mistakes-could that really feel so wonderful? "I can't control you," Kelvin replied. "Penelope, you're an exception." He stood up, meeting her gaze, "And just now, I gave you a chance to kill me, to take my heart. But you didn't seize it, so... there won't be another chance." "Now, Penelope, I'm the one who will take your heart." His tone was so confident and relaxed, it was chilling. Penelope grabbed a pillow and hurled it at him, "I don't want to see you, Kelvin... You're the devil, a complete demon!" "You have a lifetahead to feel the devil's affection," he retorted.

But the number of bodyguards at the door had doubled.
Two maids arrived in the room to constantly look after Penelope, effectively serving as her surveillance.
She had beca prisoner, a canary in a cage-no freedom, no dreams, living entirely within Kelvin's terms. Penelope examined the wound on her neck in front of the mirror.
It was superficial, hardly serious at all.
In reality... she couldn't bear the thought of dying.
She just wanted to see Kelvin's reaction, to test the so-called love he professed.
Surprisingly, he caught the blade with his bare hands, preventing her death.
"Kelvin... do you really lovethat much?" Penelope mused to herself. "Well, your love will becmy weapon. The weapon I'll use against you..." Her fingers gently traced the cut.
With her child gone, she only wanted revenge, to uncover the truth, to reclaim the simple life that was once hers.
She could never love Kelvin.
How could anyone love a devil? At the esteemed Davis Group, Kelvin's arrival at the entrance of the company left the receptionists in a state of shock.
"Mr..." they stuttered, their eyes wide with disbelief.
Kelvin, clad in a sapphire blue shirt stained with blood, his hand bandaged, and his expression dark, looked as though he had just returned from a gruesact of violence.

Ryan, his assistant, rushed over in a panic, his eyes darting to the blood on Kelvin's shirt. "You... ah, the blood, the blood..." Kelvin's icy glance silenced him.
Once back in the sanctuary of his CEO office, Kelvin changed his clothes in the lounge and immediately immersed himself in work.
"Mr. Davis, your hand..." Ryan cautioned, concern etched on his face. "Perhaps you should rest. Dictate, and I'll handle the writing." Kelvin dismissed him with an indifferent shrug. "It's not serious; it won't cripple me." "Er... Mr. Davis, you've got quite the attitude," Ryan remarked, taken aback by his boss's nonchalance. Most people would be in utter despair if they were hurt like this.
"It's worth it for her safety," Kelvin replied, spreading his palm. "A fair trade." Ryan didn't understand but didn't dare to ask further. He knew that "she" was Mrs. Davis.

"Right away," Ryan replied, quickly carrying out the order.
Timothy had been restless, so as soon as Ryan notified him, he quickly arrived at the top floor via the elevator.
"Kelvin, you wanted to see me?" Timothy inquired. "Are you planning to stay at the hospital these days?" "No, I'll be at the office as usual. I will drop by the hospital when I can." "Won't you be with Penelope?" Timothy asked, referring to Mrs. Davis.
Kelvin paused before responding, "Seeing me... only irritates her." So, it was better to visit less, stay shorter, and not bother her. "That's funny," Timothy said with arms folded. "Kelvin, if you knew it would cto this, why start it?" Irritated, Kelvin tossed the pen he was holding.

Timothy continued, "Look at that hand, wrapped up like a burrito, looks pretty serious." "Shut up." "I'll speak if I want to. We can see the wounds on your hand. But the wounds inside? Who knows about those? Who cares? You'll have to deal with those alone."
Years of acquaintance had made Timothy very familiar with Kelvin's temperament. The more ṣamedne efore hesitated to speak about a sensitive topic, the more Timothy would emphasize it, hitting Kelvin where it hurt to make him remember. "I've told you before," Timothy sighed, "If you fall in love, it's just a normal thing for a man, nothing to be ashamed about. Yet you had to..." "I terminated her pregnancy to start over with her." "That was her child. How do you think you can start over now?" Kelvin countered, "Am I supposed to accept that bastard child?"
"Ah, see, that's where you're clueless," Timothy spread his hands, "You could've investigated, used all your connections to find out who the father was. You could've even smeared the guy, made Penelope give up on him, and encouraged her to want to terminate the pregnancy herself. But you chose the most drastic way." "I don't have that kind of patience." "That's why we're in this mess. What do you propose we do?" Kelvin pressed his brow, "We'll take it one step at a time." After a brief silence, he asked, "What do you suggest?" "Oh," Timothy's spirits lifted, "now you remember me?", replied sarcastically.
Kelvin chuckled softly, "With all your charms and your way with women, why haven't you secured Monica yet?" "Why would I want to secure her?" cthe retort.
"Don't you want to?" Kelvin shot back.
"She keeps disagreeing withand 9 it openly challenging meIf it weren't for your sake, she would have left LA long ago!" Timothy cleared his throat, "Let's... get back on track. Tellwhat happened between you and Penelope."
