Chapter 0559
When it cto pushing the right buttons, Desmond had a knack for it. He knew exactly what mattered most to
Dylan, and this time, he nalled It perfectly. Sure enough, barely minutes after leaving the office, Dylan called,
instructing him to prepare the helicopter.
Dylan told himself it wasn't about reconciling with Suzy. No, it was because she was in trouble. Whoever dared
target Elliot had to be formidable and he couldn't let anything happen to Suzy
If denial were an art, Dylan would be a grandmaster.
Desmond, ever perceptive, chose not to call him out on it.
Instead, he silently complied.
Unfortunately, Desmond couldn't accompany him this time.
On his last trip to Xandria, he had returned early not because the company was too busy, but due to personal
matters at hthat required his attention. Still, the idea of Dylan going alone left him uneasy, so he reached

To his surprise, Victor's yoice was listless. "Call Graham. Let him go. I'm not in a position to leave."
"Victor, you sound off. Is something wrong?"
A little concern was common courtesy.
The question seemed to break Victor. "Desmond, do you think this is my karma?”
"What's going on?" Desmond asked, startled. He hadn't heard of anything significant happening to the Steele
family.
Victor's voice cracked with emotion. "It's Nadia. She... she's dying."
"What?" Desmond was stunned. "But | just saw her at a gala yesterday. She looked fine. How could this happen
so suddenly?"
"She's been sick for a while," Victor choked out. Allen toldbefore, and | even had Graham investigate. But
the reports all said she was perfectly healthy, so | thought Allen was lying. Turns out, he wasn't. She hacked the
hospital system to hide her medical records.
"And the reason she suddenly canceled our engagement wasn't because she fell for sother guy. She just
wanted an excuse to leave the Steele family. She was terrified my grandfather would find out about her illness
and worry. Even when she was in unbearable pain, she never once let it show in front of us."
Victor's voice cracked with emotion as he went on. "And if that toy boy hadn't toldthe truth, | would still be
in the dark!"
"Victor, calm down," Desmond interjected, trying to think of a solution. "Mrs. Wright can

save Nadia, Call her. Ask her to cback. Maybe she can help."
"Mr. Steele, please calm down. Mrs. Wright might be able to save Miss Fletcher," Desmond said. "Why don't you
give Mrs. Wright a call and ask her to cback?"
That way, Dylan wouldn't need to make the trip himself.
"Even if Suzy comes back, it won't make a difference-she's gone!" Victor said, his smile tinged with bitterness.
"After her pretty boy toldthe truth, Nadia vanished. I've searched everywhere, but there's still no sign of her.
| can't go with Dylan to find Suzy; | need to keep looking for Nadia. She doesn't have a home. | can't just let her...
die out there."
At that moment, Victor finally realized that he did care about Nadia.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter years together, how could there be no feelings? What he thought was indifference, what he believed was
disdain, wasn't true at all.
In reality, he was someone deeply rebellious.
He despised arrangements made by his elders, especially those involving Nadia.
Nadia was a street orphan his grandfather had picked up, claiming that a fortune- teller said she was destined to
be tied to their family, especially to him.
Their astrological signs aligned perfectly, and if they were married, it would ensure his lifelong success.
