Chapter 46 Aaron rubbed his temples, his voice cold as he spoke, "Who told you that Serena pushed Cynthia?" Matthew was momentarily speechless.

He glanced at Cynthia Lynwood.

Only then did he remember-Cynthia Lynwood hadn't said a word about Serena pushing her from the start.

Aaron's gaze shifted to Cynthia Lynwood as well.

"Cynthia, was it Serena who pushed you?" Cynthia Lynwood wanted nothing more than to blSerena, but there was a dangerous undertone in Aaron's deep, magnetic voice that gave her an ominous feeling.

Reluctantly, she said, "Matthew, you misunderstood, it wasn't Serena who pushed me. I got too excited and accidentally fell." Matthew's expression froze for a moment before he retorted, "You were excited because she provoked you. In the end, it's her fault that you fell. You're not well; how could she not give you sspace?" Listening to Matthew's blatant accusations against Serena, Aaron felt a pang of discomfort in his chest.

"Being the weaker party doesn't always make one right," Aaron interjected.

Both Matthew and Cynthia Lynwood turned to look at Aaron, their faces falling instantly.

Especially Cynthia Lynwood.

She nearly bit her lip in frustration.

"I'm leaving now," Aaron tossed over his shoulder as he turned to go.

Matthew called after him, "Aaron, Cynthia fell..." "You're the doctor. With you here, that's enough." Matthew was left speechless.

The room fell into a silence that stretched for what felt like an eternity.

Suddenly, Cynthia Lynwood erupted, hurling her phone at the wall in fury.

Matthew rushed over to calm her. "Cynthia, please! Your health!" "Aaron doesn't care aboutat all. What's the point of living?" Cynthia lamented, her voice filled with despair. Matthew's heart ached for her. "Cynthia, calm down. There are plenty of men in this world; you don't have to fixate on Aaron..." "Matthew," Cynthia Lynwood sniffled, "I need stalone to think." Matthew hesitated but then nodded. "Alright." As the door opened and closed behind him, Cynthia Lynwood finally let her anger burst forth, twisting the bedsheets into a knot.

Serena! She had underestimated her! Cynthia Lynwood picked up her fallen phone.

It was surprisingly undamaged.

She opened her contacts, scrolling until she stopped abruptly at "Maggie." Then a slow smile crept across her lips.

How could she have forgotten about that person? After leaving the hospital, Aaron headed straight for Rosewood Gardens.

As soon as he stepped into the villa, he asked, "Is Serena still here?" Receiving confirmation, he tiptoed upstairs.

Opening the door to Serena's bedroom, he immediately saw her curled up on the bed, looking small and vulnerable like a child.

Her petite form was endearing, like a small, defenseless creature.

Aaron crept to her bedside, his heart clenching at the sight.

Serena's face was streaked with tears.

It looked like she'd been crying for a long time.

He knelt down and gently wiped away her tears.

With each tear he brushed away, it felt like an invisible band waso m squeezing his heart, making it impossible to breathe.

What had she suffered to be in such distress? Aaron leaned in and kissed the tears at the corner of Serena's eyes.

The next moment, as he stood up, he saw a pair of eyes watching him from the darkness. Deep and unfathomable, those eyes were filled with hatred.

His breath caught in his throat, and the pain in his heart intensified.
