Chapter 272 Serena couldn't be bothered to argue with Cynthia Lynwood about the kidney transplant.
Aaron was always so protective of Cynthia-no matter what truth cout, she knew he'd just let Cynthia walk away scot-free in the end.
But the murders... that was a different story.
Serena's eyes narrowed, and a cold smile played at her lips. "If you had nothing to do with the transplant," she said quietly, "then why did you have Dr. Owens and those bodyguards killed?" Cynthia's face twisted in outrage. "What are you even talking about? When have I ever killed anyone? Serena, don't you dare pin your mess on me. That's way out of line." Serena stared at her, brow furrowing in frustration.
She'd always been convinced Cynthia was the one who'd silenced Dr. Owens and the others. But, looking at Cynthia's expression now, she didn't seem to be lying.

But Aaron hadn't seemed like he knew anything at the time.
"Cat got your tongue?" Cynthia let out a dismissive little laugh, then, in a heartbeat, her smugness vanished, replaced by a look of wounded innocence. "Serena, I'm sorry. This is my first thandling a PR nightmare—l messed up, okay? Please don't be mad at me." She suddenly bent down and grabbed Serena's hand.
Serena froze for a second, then quickly realized something was up.
She yanked her hand free.
Cynthia, as if she were made of glass, staggered and collapsed to the ground with a loud thud.
It echoed around them-painful even to hear.
Before Serena could even sigh at the tics, footsteps sounded behind her.
A moment later, a figure swept past, moving with a sharp, urgent energy.
Serena looked down to see Aaron, his face tight with concern, rushing to help Cynthia up.
"Are you alright?" Serena instantly understood the game.
She couldn't help rolling her eyes.

She'd barely made it a few paces before Aaron's cold voice rang out behind her: "Serena, you're just going to walk away? Don't you think you owe Cynthia an apology?" Serena almost couldn't believe her ears.
She turned, offering Aaron a pleasant, unfazed smile. "Miss Lynwood lost her balance and fell. What's that got to do with me?" Aaron shot her a disapproving look. "Whether Cynthia fell on her own or you pushed her, the fact is, she tried to help you with the PR mess. Maybe it didn't go well, but how can you blher for that?" Serena glanced at Cynthia, who was still clinging to Aaron's arm as she struggled to her feet, and a sly smile tugged at her lips.
So, it wasn't about faking a fall to accuse her of assault. This was Cynthia's real aim all along.
Honestly, Serena had to hand it to Cynthia-she always had another trick up her sleeve, like a never-ending parade of cheap magicSometimes Serena almost admired the creativity: it seemed Pol Cynthia spent every waking moment dreaming up new ways to make other people's lives miserable.
"Mr. Vance," Serena said coolly, turning her attention to Aaron, "how can you be so sure her intentions were good? For all you know, she set this up on purpose." Cynthia's face went pale. She clung to Aaron's arm, looking so fragile it seemed a breeze might break her.
"Serena, you've got it all wrong," Cynthia said, her voice trembling with just the right hint of Xulnerability. " only wanted to help you with the PR. I didn't realize covering things up would backfire. Aaron..." Kon She looked up at Aaron, her eyes shining with tears, the very picture of heartbreak.
