Chapter 26 "Samuel, has there been any progress on the stock division issue?" At this late hour, Serena could only think of this possibility.
Samuel had just taken off his shoes and, hearing Serena's familiar voice, sat down in the entryway. "No, not that. I was just thinking it's been a while since you returned to Northspire. How's everything going? Are you doing well?" Serena and Samuel were college acquaintances, but after getting together with Aaron, Serena had distanced herself from others, including him. Her world revolved solely around Aaron. He was her center.

Serena was caught off guard, and after a brief pause, she replied with a bittersweet smile, "I'm doing well, thank you for asking, Samuel." Samuel smiled softly.
After a moment, he broke the silence. "Someone calledtoday, saying there was an issue with a company under your nand that they needed to get in touch with you. I wanted to ask if you've received any strange calls recently." Serena felt a pang of unease. "I did get a call about sissues with a company, but you know, I only have one company left in Alderburg, and that's L.S. Entertainment. If there's a problem with L.S. Entertainment, you would know better than I do, right?" "So, could it be a scam?" Samuel pondered aloud. "But if it were a scam, how would they know so much about our relationship? They knew I was your senior from college and that I'm managing your company." Serena furrowed her brow. "That... I'm not sure about..." "This seems a bit odd. Do you want to cback and check things out?" Serena refused without hesitation. "No, if he calls again, have him contactdirectly." There was no way she was returning to Alderburg.
"Alright." "Thanks for your help, Samuel." "You don't always have to be so formal." Serena pressed her lips together, unsure of what to say next. On the other end, Samuel was equally at a loss for words. He gripped his phone tightly, reluctant to hang up, but Serena's "Goodnight" drifted over the line.
He had no choice but to respond, "Goodnight." As the call ended, Samuel felt a wave of regret. He still had so much he wanted to say to Serena.
Meanwhile, Serena lay in bed, her thoughts still on the company. She trusted Samuel completely. If Samuel hadn't noticed any issues with the company, then there couldn't be any. As for that call, she didn't care who made it. She wasn't going back to Alderburg. If there truly was a problem, they could cto Northspire to find her.

Two days later, in Alderburg, the atmosphere in the CEO's office at Vance Holdings was as cold and heavy as a winter storm, threatening to freeze anyone caught in its path. Aaron sat in his executive chair, his handsfeatures obscured by the shadows cast by the blinds, making his expression unreadable. "She still hasn't returned?" he asked.
Victor, standing across from him, felt a chill run down his spine. The "she" Aaron referred to was clearly Serena.
Two days ago, Aaron had instructed someone to call Serena, claiming there was trouble with the company to lure her Back. But Serena had ignored the call and continued with her work, unaffected. Victor couldn't understand why Mr. Vance, whose heart was supposedly set on Miss Lynwood, was so intent on bringing Miss Sullivan back.
"Victor," Aaron's voice cut through the air, cold as a winter's night despite pay los the daylight," pay you to solve problems. If you can't solve this problem, I'll solve you."
